Images in the series The Last Dance were created during early autumn of 2012 when I spent time in the unseasonably warm Wenatchee River and Lake Washington with my camera and found the first fall leaves floating in the water. Before the leaves sailed away down the turbulent river or ripped and sank in the waves of the lake, I photographed their swirly, transient autumn dance. Placing the camera below the surface I found light distortions and forms that were created by the broken light rays.
